Description

The great and Holy Prophet Moses lived 1,500 years before Christ was born.  The son of Amram and Jochebel, he was saved from death while an infant when the daughter of Pharaoh found him in a rush basket floating while she was taking a bath in the Nile River.  She adopted him, and he was educated in Egypt’s noblest way.  He chose to leave Egypt when 40 after discovering that he was one of the sons of Israel who were slaves for 400 years, and after killing an Egyptian man who was beating an Israelite.

Fleeing into Midian, he encountered a miraculous Burning Bush where God first spoke to him.  He married, had children, but returned to Egypt at God’s command when he was 80.  After many plagues which he warned Pharaoh would visit Egypt, he led the Israelites out into the wilderness and freedom from slavery, destroying the Egyptian army by God’s miracle at the Red Sea.  Moses received the Law from God, and was counted by Him as “My friend” because he spoke with God “face to face.”  Although unable to enter the Promised Land because of a sin, Moses saw it from a mountain, where he died and was buried, beloved of God.
